These pages feature two stories told by my grandfather, and written down when he was 89 in 1984.

These stories were told by Barney Jacobs, as he grew older. He took great pride in repeating his memories of The Great War [1914-1918].

He was born in Manchester, England, in 1895, the son of immigrants from Eastern Europe, he had six brothers and two sisters, the youngest sister passed away in South Africa in 2005. Barney lived most of his life in Manchester, marrying in the 1920s, having a son and daughter, and when widowed in 1955, remarried and lived in Blackpool, passing away aged 92.
